Construction work on the new extension to the Greyfriars Kirk House continues on track. In a few months time it will be home to the Grassmarket Community Project and will rival Dancebase at the other end of Grassmarket for architectural merit and community benefit.
During the month work began on the 16th century graveyard wallhead which required building up in places to accommodate the seal to the new roof structure behind. A single-ply cap sheet has gone down on the roof and work has started on attaching the fixing system to the box lights for insulation and cladding. Otherwise there has not been a great deal to see from the outside as most of the major works are going on indoors (and we’re still hoping to get a peek inside soon).
