We are a charitable trust whose main mission is to address problems of social exclusion as a consequence of poverty, loneliness, hunger and homelessness as well as from substance abuse and ill-health.
Times have changed since the Grassmarket Mission was established in 1886, as have the needs of the local community it was set up to serve. A revised Trust Deed of 2011 set out the Trust’s principal objectives as:
- The relief of those in need
- The advancement of citizenship and community development
- The advancement of the Christian religion and the promotion of religious harmony on a non-denominational basis
To achieve this we are able to offer advice and grant assistance to organisations that meet these principles, primarily within the local community.
